Before joining LuskinOIC, Shimizu held key roles at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), where he served as the Controller and Director of Finance. In these roles, he played a critical part in enhancing operational efficiency, maximizing revenue, and ensuring precise financial reporting. His leadership was particularly instrumental during the Covid-19 pandemic, where he adeptly managed cash flows and navigated complex financial challenges. Shimizu’s career is marked by significant achievements, including spearheading the creation of the Financial Planning and Analytics Department at LuskinOIC in 2017. Under his guidance, the organization achieved a ranking among the top 15 pediatric programs by U.S. News & World Report. His extensive background also includes serving as Manager of Business Intelligence and Financial Improvement at CHLA, where his implementation of productivity metrics resulted in substantial labor savings. Shimizu holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, San Bernardino, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Jamie Wells, MHA, BSN, RN With over 15 years of leadership in healthcare administration and nursing, Jamie Wells serves as the Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Nursing Officer at Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children (LuskinOIC). Since joining LuskinOIC in 2015, Jamie has played a key role in strategic planning, clinical quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and patient care operations across the organization’s ambulatory clinics, urgent care, and ambulatory surgery center. She has lead regulatory compliance efforts with agencies such as The Joint Commission, AAAHC, CDPH, and CMS, ensuring excellence in patient care and safety. Jamie’s leadership is centered on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while optimizing operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. She collaborates closely with medical staff and administrators to align clinical programs with LuskinOIC’s mission, driving performance improvement initiatives and innovative strategies to enhance patient care. Before joining LuskinOIC, Jamie held leadership positions at The Center for Surgery, Kerlan-Jobe Surgery Center, and Ambulatory Surgical Center, Long Beach. She has extensive experience overseeing clinical operations, business development, and regulatory compliance. Throughout her career, she has successfully led accreditation processes, expanded surgical services, and improved clinical workflows in various healthcare settings. Jamie holds a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Jacksonville University. Michael P. Sullivan With over 30 years of experience in healthcare philanthropy, marketing, and community relations, Michael Sullivan serves as the Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer at Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children (LuskinOIC). Since joining LuskinOIC in 2013, Michael has played a pivotal role in expanding the Institute’s philanthropic reach, overseeing foundation initiatives, marketing, business development, and community engagement. Michael’s fundraising expertise played an instrumental role in securing the largest bequest gift in LuskinOIC history from the Luskins, a transformative contribution that will sustain and expand the Institute’s mission of providing world-class pediatric orthopaedic care. Under his leadership, LuskinOIC has successfully rebranded, exceeded the goals of two capital campaigns, and strengthened its presence within the community. His innovative approach also led to the adoption of Ozzie the Dragon, the beloved mascot of the Everychild Foundation Playground. Prior to LuskinOIC, Michael held key leadership positions in renowned healthcare institutions across the country. At Harvard Hospital System, he spearheaded major fundraising and marketing initiatives, securing a $3 million grant from Walgreens for diabetes research and exceeding fundraising goals for a new rehabilitation hospital in Boston. During his tenure at Nantucket Hospital, he launched the “Boston Pops on Nantucket” annual concert, which has since raised over $50 million. His expertise in strategic philanthropy also led to the successful merger branding of two Catholic hospitals in his hometown of Lowell, Massachusetts. Anthony Scaduto Dr. Anthony Scaduto is President and Chief Executive Officer at Orthopaedic Institute for Children (OIC) and the Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital. He joined OIC in January 2009 as the Lowman Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Medical Director, Fellowship Director, and Chief of Staff, and continues in those roles today. He provides specialized orthopedic care for pediatric patients at the downtown Los Angeles campus, the Luskin Children’s Clinic in Santa Monica, and the Valley Orthopaedic Clinic in Calexico, CA. Dr. Scaduto received his bachelor’s and medical degrees from UCLA and completed his pediatric orthopedic fellowship at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas. Dr. Scaduto previously held academic appointments at Shriner’s Hospital for Children in Los Angeles and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
